Alright readers, as some of you may remember, I used to do book suggestions every Wednesday. I'm going to start that back up again, but we're going to have it on Friday instead.
So this week's book suggestion is Geek Charming by Robin Palmer. This book is about Castle Heights High's most popular girl, Dylan, and what happens when Josh, a film geek, starts a documentary about her and high school popularity. Soon she becomes friends with Josh, much against the approval of the popular crowd. Soon she starts to realize the popularity she worked so hard for may not be what she really wants.
I thought this book was really good. So good I finished it in one night! It switches from Dylan to Josh every other chapter, giving you both their views of the situation. The book seems to end at the right time, with everyone contented. Another reason I liked it is that the end is quite satisfactory. It doesn't leave you wondering what could possibly happened, but you're glad you read it.
So, on a different note, who's ready for the weekend? I know I am!

Pointe Shoe 101: The Parts Of A Pointe Shoe
Alright readers, it's time for a quick crash course in, (Dun Da Da Dah!!!)
POINTE SHOE 101!
So our topic will be the main workings of a pointe shoe. By the end of this post, you'll know what each part of a pointe shoe is called and what it's function is! (You aren't required to know this. There will not be a test at the end ^_^) Here's our chart:
Platform: This is what you stand on when we go en pointe. It can be wide or narrow depending on what the dancer needs for their feet.
Box: This helps support your toes when en pointe. Again, it can be wide or narrow depending on your feet.
Vamp: This is the length of the area above the box. If it's too long, you won't be able to get 'over' your box or roll through demi-pointe.
Drawstring: This tightens the shoe, basically.
Shank: This supports your arch en pointe. It can be hard, soft, medium, or even 3/4.
Heel: I think you know what this does. If not, well, it's the part on your heel.
Congratulations, you have finished a crash course in pointe shoe 101! There are lots of different pointe shoes, lots of different brands, and sometimes you can get special orders. These can be expensive though.
What kind do I wear? Well, that's another post. But the pair I photographed is a La Pointe by Wear Moi from France. Maybe next week I'll take you through the journey that is my pointe shoe history :)
Hasta whatever!
Courtney :-3
P.S: I almost forgot your certificate for completing reading this post! You can print it out and sign it if you want!

Quiz Day
Hello readers! It's Thursday which means that it's quiz time!!! We're going to try something different though. For this activity, you'll need your mp3 player, ipod, or whatever you use to keep your music on. Then you'll need to put it on shuffle. Then read each question aloud and see what comes up on shuffle. Ready? Here we go!
1. How are you feeling?
2. What inspires you?
3. How do you feel about yourself?
4. How do you feel about your friends?
5. How would you describe your lifestyle?
6. What is your nickname?
7. A cool T-shirt slogan:
8. The worst thing that's ever happened to you?
9. The best thing that's ever happened to you?
10. How would you describe the Ballet and Bento blog?
So what you do is you write down the song that comes up on shuffle for each question. Don't worry if some don't make sense, they won't! But it's pretty fun! Here's my answers.
1. How are you feeling? Here We Go
2. What inspires you? The 12 Days of Christmas
3. How do you feel about yourself? Turn Up the Music
4. How do you feel about your friends? We Right Here
5. How would you describe your lifestyle? I'll Try
6. What is your nickname? She's So Gone
7. A cool T-shirt slogan: Symphony No. 5 in B flat major, Op. 100: Allegro marcate (That's an interesting one...)
8. The worst thing that's ever happened to you? I'm Lindana and I Wanna Have Fun
9. The best thing that's ever happened to you? 360
10. How would you describe the Ballet and Bento blog? Perfect Day
Well, that was interesting! Try it yourself! What does your ipod/mp3/music device say about you?

Dance Fashion: Trash Bags???
Hello readers! Today we're going to talk about a recurring fashion trend seen among dancers. Trash bag shorts/pants! Okay, so their not exactly made out of trash bags. Their made out of ripstop nylon. This fabric is supposed to keep the sweat off of you. That's why they tend to be so popular.
So I was thinking the other day, why not make my own? Out of a legit trash bag? And I did! I'll tell you how to make them too! It'll require a little math though. For those of you like me who can't stand math, it's time for a little help from Mr. Calculator.
Alright, now that he's here to help, we're gonna make our shorts! I used a black garbage bag. First I cut it in half. Then with a tape measure I measured my hips around. Then with some help from Mister Calculator, I divided that number by two. Adding about two inches to that measurement, I cut one of the halves to be that length.
I used this really cool device to seal up my shorts. But if you don't have one of those, You can use tape. Duck tape will probably work best. Then On the bottom I cut two diagonals for leg holes. Leaving a little space between them.
Presto! You have a pair of trash bag shorts! Here's me wearing mine:
I'll post a link to actual trash bag shorts on the facebook page. Just look up 'Ballet and Bento' in your facebook search browser, click the search button, (it probably won't come up as being suggested,) and click the page!
Also, my friend just started a blog! It's really cool so check it out! Her blog is Clover Kiss. The website is clover-kiss.blogspot.com. So once you've read this, go read hers! :)

This Week in Voicemails!
So readers, if any of you remember Yumi Shimizu's 'Let's Happy Bento' blog, you'll recognize this segment! Yumi's blog is what actually inspired me to start this blog! Unfortunately, Yumi had to stop blogging. :(
Anyways, something Yumi used to do on her blog was This Week in Voicemails! So, that's what we're going to do today!
My first voicemail is from my friend, E____. E____ is a very fun person, and her voicemails tend to reflect this...kind of.
"Uh, hey Courtney,...it's E____ I just wanted to...call you and...see if your still sick and, see how you're doing and...I hope you get better if your still sick. Um, bye!"
That's really touching! I appriciate her calling. It's always nice to feel loved! ^_^
Our next message is also from E____. I think we'll skip it since we already saw the last one.
Our next message is from my other friend...but I'm not really sure who it is since they didn't say who it was! Anyway, here it is:
"Hi Courtney! Um...I was just calling, to...catch up! I haven't seen you in a while. Um, I was also wondering why you're voicemail is in Spanish. .....um, yeah. ...Why do you say buenos dias? like.....okay, well..."
I really wish I knew who that was! I guess should call back and find out, huh? Oh, before I do I think I'll answer her questions. Just in case she checks here before I call her.
"Um, I was wondering why your voicemail is in Spanish."
and
"Why do you say buenos dias?"
Actually, it's in English. But, it's with a Japanese accent, so it might be a little hard to understand. Here's a subtitle of my voicemail!
"Hello! Not in. Bye bye!"
Well, that's been This Week in Voicemails! On a related note, I'm going to go call the mystery number and change my voicemail message.

The Cute, the Adorable, and the Loveable!
To kick this week off, it's time for The Cute, the Adorable, and the Loveable! This week's subject is a returing guest from last time. Please welcome CouCou the cockatiel!!!!
I love my little birdie! I was browsing through my photo editor when I came across some cool effects! So here's two of the effects I tried. The first is liquify.
Woah! Let's check out the next effect: stained glass!
All these are super cute, but I think I like the stained glass the best. But, even better then that is my very own, real life birdie! Which was your favorite?

This Weekend in Review
Well readers, I think it's time for a little review! Let's start on Friday afternoon and go from there:
Friday afternoon: A trip to my fav pizza place East Coast Pizza for a free pizza...and my fav appetizer, mozzerella sticks! (potato cakes from Arbys and Spankopita are both close seconds.)
What a great day to be a mozzerella stick!
False alarm! It's not a great day to be a mozzerella stick! You're gonna be eaten!!!
Saturday: Absolutely nothing. I was lazy and just sat on the computer all day. Literally.
Today: Bathed Nick the westie. Fooled around on the computer. Started a huge mural. It's on my driveway with chalk and it's my own copy of Rapunzel's 'Sun' in Tangled. (<3 that movie!) Went for a bike ride. Updating blog post...Oh! Looks like our little trip back into the weekend has caught up to us! Next up on the to-do list:
Bathe Ean the scottie.
Repaint nails.
Watch my fav show, Once Upon a Time on ABC.
So, that was this week's weekend in review! What did your weekend consist of?

Who knows, what you write might even end up on the blog! (But you can tell me if you don't want me to. Or I can post what you write but not your name. It's like an e-mail salad bar.) Here's the e-mail adress:

Today I'm taking a little rest. I'm might be making a new shirt, painting my toe nails, reading, and writing. I'll be around though, so feel free to e-mail! Plus I'll be updating the facebook page, so be sure to go on and check it!

A Little Under the Weather
Well readers, it seems everything has started this week. Ballet, school for some, the cold, (unfortunatly!) and ickiness. I haven't been feeling well the past few days. I think it has something to do with the cold. It's gotten down in the thirty's and CouCou has been just this little ball of feathers trying to keep warm!
It has given me a little time though to write and things. I'm writing a new story. And I've gotten caught up in my favorite television show, Once Upon a Time.
That's just a quick update for now. I need to go to the store later. Maybe I'll take some pics while I'm at it!
Until later!
